More than 45 Million Americans Change Their Addresses Each Year

Many of them are good customers of yours - customers you value and who are important enough for you to send mail. But not all of them told you they moved.

If you want to keep these customers, you have to make sure your mail reaches them. That's why it's good business to update your address lists as people move.

Updating Reduces Waste

Every mail piece, regardless of class, has two things in common: the intended recipient and the address. When both are accurate and complete, the mail piece can be delivered quickly and easily.

Used in conjunction with the NCOA (National Change of Address Service), the use of Ancillary Endorsements will keep your list up to date.  A clean list is the easiest way to eliminate undeliverable mail, reducing your mailing and production costs.

As of November 23, 2008, All Standard (Non Profit and Regular) and First Class Presort Mail must follow the new Move Update regulations. This requires any addresses used in a mailing going out at standard or first class presort rates to be updated every 95 days using either NCOA or approved endorsements.  For more information on the Move Update Requirements mandated by the post office, click HERE.

Ancillary Service Endorsement (ASE) are used to (1) request a hard copy notification of the addressee's new address and (2) provide the Postal Service with instruction on how to handle Undeliverable as Addressed (UAA) mail. You may combine ASEs with other approved Move Update methods.

The Post Office offers several options for Ancillary Endorsements to meet your needs:

Return Service Requested.

The Postal Service returns UAA mail pieces with a new address or reason for nondelivery. There is no charge for the service, however, you will pay first class postage for the return of the piece. In addition, you will have to re-send the piece out if you want your customer to receive it at their new address.

Please Note:  The Return Service Requested endorsement does NOT fulfill the move update requirements.

Address Service Requested:

Rescigno's Mailing Solutions recommends this endorsement on your pieces.  It WILL fulfill the move update requirements.

The Post Office is working on an Intelligent Mail Barcode (IMB).  With this Intelligent Mail Barcode, you will be able to get the address updates sent to you electronically at a reduced price.  Rescigno's Mailing Solutions is working closely with the post office to help them implement this new technology.
