Getting to Know Your Direct Mail Solutions Provider
Susan Rescigno, President of Rescigno's Mailing Solutions, always knew she wanted to own her own business, she just didn't know what kind of business. Susan spent the early years of her professional career working in development for various educational institutions such as St. Ignatius, IIT and St. Xavier University. She was instrumental in establishing a board of directors and an Annual Fund at Josephinum High School. During her tenure at IIT, she won an award from CASE for Sustained Performance in the Annual Fund. Because of her experiences in working (and being less than satisfied) with mailing services, she decided to start her own direct mail company. She reasoned that if she could offer a service that would be professional, trustworthy, and cost competitive, she might be able to attract interest from others who had also been disappointed by their experiences with mailing services.
Susan is a graduate of St. Xavier University with a degree in mass communications. In addition, she is a Certified Mailpiece Quality Control Specialist, which ensures that Rescigno's Mailing Solutions' clients receive the best possible postal discounts. As the driving force of her company's success, Susan regularly looks to the future and how best Rescigno's can serve the direct mail needs of its partners. When asked what she believed to be the key factor in the success of Rescigno's Mailing Solutions, Inc., she said, "There are many important factors that contribute to a successful business. Rescigno's Mailing Solutions has always stood behind its name and delivered excellent services to its customers. Our staff is dedicated and willing to go the extra mile to help provide sound solutions to our clients. We try to offer services that will alleviate problems for our clients. We consider ourselves an extension of their office. In other words, we work together as part of their team. Our goal has never been to make money, our goal has always been to provide a quality service that people could depend on. I believe we reach that goal every day. All of us are proud to be a part of the team."
Susan has always remained very involved in the community. Most recently, she has chaired the annual Gala for the Children's Museum in Oak Lawn. She served as the chair person for the board of Hope Children's Hospital for two years and sat on the board for 10 years. She served for two years on the Christ Hospital development committee. In addition, Sue has been involved in her children's school by sitting on the Ladies Guild Board and various other parent associations.
Professionally, Susan has served for the past three years on the Postal and Government Affairs Committee of the Mailing and Fulfillment Service Association. She was recently asked to serve another three year term.
Ron Rescigno, Vice President of Rescigno's Mailing Solutions, is responsible for new sales, research and all copy writing (Capital Campaigns, Annual Fund, etc.). Ron holds a BA in English from Lewis University and a MA in Educational Administration from Governors State University. Ron spent 23 years in private high school education as a teacher and administrator.
"The team here takes great pride in doing quality work for our clients. Quality means on time, according to specifications, and with no surprises," says Ron. "We work closely with each of our partners to ensure success. If the client's mailing is successful, it means we have been able to function as an extension of their office. That's our goal. It's what we strive for."
Ron, like his wife Susan, has been very involved in the community. Ron recently completed a 9 year tenure as a board member at St. Linus Grade School, where his children attended. He is also the Vice President of the board of the Children's Museum in Oak Lawn.

Christy and her assistant, Carol Skonicki, take great pride in helping clients with their data issues. Christy specializes in variable data technology which, as she puts it, "Helps customers target their message more specifically and reduces set-up and merging costs by running the job as one mailing."
"Also, by helping segment your data, we can help you target your message to your constituents. Previous donors can be told how their past donations have helped the institution, while new prospects can be given a list of ways they can help out.”
Christy adds, "If you need help getting your constituents to read your message, we can print customized messages on the outside of envelopes that entice your constituents to actually open and read the letter."
In addition to her data knowledge, Christy is also a certified Mailpiece Quality Control Specialist, having passed the qualification test from the US Post Office shortly after she started in 2003. This knowledge helps her assist customers in making the best decisions regarding the design and layout of their mailpiece. Christy is currently working with the Post Office to implement the new Move Update requirements and Intelligent Mail Barcode.
Larry Neumann, Production Manager at Rescigno's Mailing Solutions, is a veteran with over 30 years experience in the direct mail industry. He has solved many a dilemma for customers.
“There are so many little things that can make a difference in the success of a direct mail piece,” Larry said recently. “For example, folding a piece in a more advantageous way for insertion into an envelope, while still providing a professional look. Or, finding the most efficient and timely way to fix problems with incorrect indicias or a return address that was not printed on 50,000 pieces. This is our job.”
Also, Larry and his staff make it a practice to inspect new materials as they are received. They look for specific issues such as poor print quality and print alignment. “When any material issues present themselves, we notify the customer of the problem and always try to provide alternative solutions to fix the problem. Our customers have come to rely on us for this kind of customer service.”
Larry is a postal rules expert and has recently been working with the post office on the new addressing requirements for flat mail pieces. He and Christy have also been working with the post office on the new Intelligent Mail Barcode.

Carole Hurley, Production. Carole works tirelessly to inspect all jobs during production to make sure they meet customer specifications. She verifies all the pieces are correct, postage amounts are correct and that all envelopes are sealed and stamped before they go out the door. In addition, Carole double checks all the personalization and variable data for errors as it goes through production. She makes sure to notify the customers if there are questions regarding a salutation matching an addressee name or other questionable data.
Marilyn Wodarczyk, Administrative Assistant. Marilyn helps out behind the scenes, working with all the departments at Rescigno's Mailing Solutions. Besides being the friendly voice at ext 101, she follows the jobs through from quoting to invoicing. Marilyn also makes sure plenty of postage is on hand for all projects and frequently consults with customers to verify the job specifications.
