Are You a ‘Disappearing’ Nonprofit?

What happens in-between your appeals?

What do you do to keep your donors engaged with you after your fall, year-end, and spring appeals, etc.

Intentionally or unintentionally, if you’re nowhere to be found when you’re between “asks,” that’s clearly not good.

How about making what Rescigno’s likes to call some positive noise during this time. We’re talking about noise that will create familiarity and trust with your donors over time.

Positive Noise Suggestions

  • Short updates

  • Impact stories

  • Video

  • Photos

  • Progress updates on various initiatives being worked on

  • Personalized touches

  • Moments of transparency

When you take a moment to think about it, stewardship communications should feel like ongoing conversations rather than something that happens yearly (like the information within long-form annual reports used to be).

Don’t be like that annoying friend or relative who only contacts you when they need something from you. Be the organization that has kept in touch with its donors. Usually, that’s how you  earn that next gift.
